Minitrack on DISTRIBUTED OBJECTS PLATFORMS
in the
Software Technology Track
of the
30th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, HICSS-30
Maui, Hawaii - January 7-10, 1997
The Software Technology Track of HICSS-30 consists of a series of minitracks, that cover a broad selection of timely and important topics in the area of distributed systems.
The minitrack on DISTRIBUTED OBJECTS PLATFORMS aims at gathering users, designers and implementors of object-based distributed systems to discuss practical issues in using this technology, with the hope of determining
where object-based distributed systems have been successfully deployed,
as well as where distributed object-based systems currently fall short of solving problems in practice.
The minitrack will particularly welcome papers describing experiences
and "real world" applications of object-based distributed systems.
The major topics foreseen are:
- Comparison of object-based distributed systems
- Compatibility issues and emerging object standards: OLE,
CORBA, OODCE, etc.
- Distributed objects over the Web (Java, ...)
- Distributed object services: security, trading,
transactions, replication, etc.
- Performance evaluation of object-based distributed systems
- Experiences in using object-based distributed systems
- High level interfaces for object-based distributed programming
- Framework development based on distributed object systems
- Combining distributed objects with legacy applications
